Daiwa Zillion SV TW (2021) – JDM Baitcaster
Versatile low-profile baitcasting reel with SV braking concept
The 21 ZILLION SV TW is a low-profile baitcasting reel, developed for controlled and versatile casting. The reel combines stability, control, and forgiving casting behavior, even with varying lure weights.
The aluminum body ensures structural rigidity, while the SV braking concept provides control without dampening the casting feel. This is not an extreme specialist, but a broadly applicable reel for technical predator fishing.

What is the ZILLION SV TW for?
This reel is designed for technical casting where control and consistency are more important than maximum speed or brute force. Within European conditions, this is a true all-round baitcaster for perch, zander, and light to medium pike fishing.
Suitable for:
-
Hardbaits (crankbaits, jerkbaits, minnows)
-
Softbaits on jig heads or Texas/Carolina rigs
-
Spinnerbaits and chatterbaits
-
Technical casting from boat or shore
-
Not intended for extremely heavy swimbait work or brute power fishing.
-
Optimal use: approx. 7 – 35 g (sweet spot ± 10 – 30 g).
Feel & control
What immediately stands out is the control during casting. The SV braking concept makes the reel forgiving with varying lure weights, without the feel being "dampened". The reel runs smoothly, even under load, and provides direct contact with the lure.
The gear ratio is fast enough for active fishing, but maintains control and calmness during retrieve.
When is this reel not a good choice?
❌ Not suitable for heavy swimbaits
❌ Not a power reel for large lures above ± 80 g
❌ Not suitable for ultralight or BFS applications
❌ Not an entry-level model
This is a technical tool for those who know what they're doing.
Takumi's verdict
The ZILLION SV TW is a true workhorse reel. No hype, no showpiece, but a balanced baitcaster that can be used in almost any European predator fishing situation. If you're looking for one high-quality baitcaster for serious use, this is the right choice.
Recommended rod combination
Weight & length (realistic and balanced):
-
Length: 6’6” – 7’3” (198 – 220 cm)
-
Class: M to MH
-
Casting Weight: approx. 7 – 35 g (sweet spot ± 10 – 30 g)
-
Type: Casting rod, fast to regular-fast action
Why this combination works:
The Zillion SV TW performs best on a rod that is not too stiff. Too heavy rods make the whole setup feel dead; too light rods remove control. An M–MH casting blank keeps the system in balance.
Ideal for:
-
Perch & zander from boat or bank
-
All-round lure fishing
-
